Levent Balkir, MD, Ph.D., has been added to the team of Mount Kisco Medical Group hospitalists providing care at MidHudson Regional Hospital.  Dr. Balkir came to the Hudson Valley in January 2016 after serving as a hospitalist physician for the Bay Area Hospitalist Group in Tampa Florida since 2007.

A native of Turkey, Dr. Balkir earned his MD at the University of Ankara School of Medicine in his home country.  He received his Ph.D. in human genetics at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine at Shadyside Hospital, part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

A hospitalist is a physician who provides prompt and complete attention to all the needs of a hospitalized patient, including diagnosis, treatment and the performance of medical procedures. In addition to their core expertise managing the clinical problems of acutely ill hospitalized patients, hospital medicine practitioners work to enhance the performance of hospitals and healthcare systems by improving processes and standardizing quality across numerous medical disciplines.
