WMCHealth’s Heart and Vascular Institute Expands to MidHudson Regional Hospital

Cardiologists Kenneth N. Giedd, MD, Paul A. Hanna, MD, and Syed Naqvi, MD, recently began providing consultative, diagnostic and preventive adult cardiology services, as well as inpatient cardiac and critical care, at MidHudson Regional Hospital.

The Heart and Vascular Institute, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), has expanded its robust suite of heart and vascular care offerings to network affiliate MidHudson Regional Hospital with the appointment of three distinguished cardiologists who will care for patients at the Poughkeepsie hospital.

Cardiologists Kenneth N. Giedd, MD, Paul A. Hanna, MD, and Syed Naqvi, MD, recently began providing consultative, diagnostic and preventive adult cardiology services, as well as inpatient cardiac and critical care, at MidHudson Regional Hospital.

The team at MidHudson Regional Hospital will see patients for conditions including heart valve disease, coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndrome, angina, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, valvular heart disease and congenital heart disease.

MidHudson Regional Hospital patients will also benefit from access to a broad range of cardiovascular services at WMCHealth's flagship Westchester Medical Center.

Dr. Giedd, former director of Nuclear Cardiology at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City, received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed clinical and research fellowships in cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, now NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital. He also trained at New Jersey's Princeton Longevity Center in coronary computed tomography angiography, which produces high-resolution 3-D pictures of the moving heart and blood vessels.

Dr. Hanna, formerly with the Permanente Medical Group in Walnut Creek, Calif., received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed an internal medicine residency at Bellevue Hospital Center through the New York University School of Medicine and a cardiology fellowship at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey. He is certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Naqvi, formerly with New York Cardiac Care P.C., earned his medical degree from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, now King Edward Medical University, and completed a residency in general and cardiovascular surgery at Lahore's Mayo Hospital. He completed a fellowship at Sinai Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee, now the Aurora Sinai Medical Center, through the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Naqvi is board certified in cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology and has extensive experience in echocardiography. He has practiced noninvasive cardiology in Poughkeepsie since 2005.
